Suspect Nabbed in Cigarette Burglary Spree Across West Kent

Two Villages Targeted in Night-Time Raids

A crook has been charged following a string of shop burglaries targeting cigarettes in two quiet west Kent villages. The trouble kicked off in Kemsing at around 1am on 29 November 2019, when robbers tried to break into a local shop but failed to get inside.

Just two hours later, thieves struck again, this time breaking into a shop in nearby Lamberhurst and making off with a stash of cigarettes.

Arrest Made Months Later in Rochdale

Nearly five months after the break-ins, police tracked down 30-year-old Asso Salhi from Rooley Moor Road, Rochdale. He was arrested at his home on Wednesday 15 April 2020.

Salhi now faces charges for the attempted burglary in West End, Lamberhurst, the successful burglary on High Street, Lamberhurst, and another cigarette theft from a burglary on Low Road, Leeds on 20 February 2020.

Man Remanded for Court Appearance

The suspect has been remanded in custody ahead of his hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court this Friday, 17 April.
