Woman Jailed for Attacking Cops and Stealing Mate’s Car in Shocking Chippenham Incident

Shannon Graham’s Violent Outburst

On 5 January 2020, Shannon Graham found herself facing two Wiltshire police officers at her Chippenham home. They’d come to question her about a stolen vehicle taken from a male friend’s address that same evening. The suspicious car was even parked outside Graham’s property when cops arrived.

But instead of cooperating, Graham launched a brutal attack. She slammed a door twice on the female officer and kicked her after she fell to the ground. She also scratched and bit the male officer during her arrest, turning a routine investigation into a violent ordeal.

Bailed, Then Busted Again

Despite being released on bail with strict orders not to contact the friend, Graham ignored the conditions. She went straight back to his home and assaulted him, adding another offence to her record.

Court Delivers Justice

On 8 October at Swindon Crown Court, the 33-year-old from Melksham was convicted on multiple charges: three counts of assaulting police officers, assault on her male friend, and theft of his vehicle. The judge handed down an 18-month jail sentence.

Police Praise Tough Sentence

Local Crime Investigator Lou Goddard, who led the case, welcomed the result:

“Shannon Graham attacked officers who were just doing their job investigating a theft. She then blatantly broke bail conditions to assault her friend again. A custodial sentence is the right punishment for this inexcusable behaviour.”

Swindon’s Police and Crime Commissioner Angus Macpherson added:

“Anyone who attacks police, staff, or volunteers deserves punishment. Jail is right here. Assaulting emergency workers is totally unacceptable – they’re protecting our communities. I hope this verdict brings comfort to the victim and officers affected by this brutal attack.”
