Man Pleads Guilty to Brazen Pharmacy Break-In in Sittingbourne
A man has admitted to breaking into a Sittingbourne pharmacy and stealing prescription drugs along with a commercial vehicle in a daring overnight raid.
Pharmacy Burglar Flees with Drugs and Van
The burglary happened between the night of Saturday, September 28, and early hours of Sunday, September 29, 2024. Thieves made off with a stash of prescription medication and the pharmacy’s van.
Police were alerted on Monday, September 30, and quickly launched an investigation. Searches at two addresses — one in Sittingbourne and the other in nearby Gillingham — uncovered stolen prescription drugs and other illicit items.
Arrests Made After Police Recover Stolen Vehicle
- A 45-year-old man from Middletune Avenue, Sittingbourne, George Bignall, was arrested and charged with burglary, taking a vehicle without consent, and driving while disqualified.
- A 44-year-old woman from Gillingham was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods but has since been released on bail until December 28.
The stolen van was found early on Sunday morning after police received a report of suspicious behaviour near Cowper Road, Gillingham.
Bignall Faces Court as Investigation Continues
Bignall appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on October 2, where he pleaded guilty to the offences. He remains in custody and is due back at Maidstone Crown Court on December 31 for sentencing.
