Car Thief Busted After Spate of Thefts in Kent Towns

James Vincent, 42, has been charged following a series of thefts across Staplehurst, Cranbrook, and Paddock Wood. Police linked him to multiple offences after a week-long investigation.

Multiple Thefts Spark Police Action

Between 17 and 23 April 2023, several crimes hit the area. Thieves targeted driveways, stealing a Hyundai and a Nissan. High-value items were also taken from parked cars during this period.

Car Recovered, Suspect Caught

The stolen Hyundai was found by officers on 23 April in Staplehurst. Vincent, who has no fixed address, was arrested at the scene. He now faces a long list of charges:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of theft
  • Two counts of possessing criminal property
  • Three counts of fraud by false representation (related to stolen bank cards)
  • Shoplifting
  • Driving while disqualified
  • Driving without insurance

Remanded in Custody, Court Date Set

Vincent appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 24 April and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 27 April at the same court.
