Scarborough Sicko Matthew Lee Scaife Jailed for 20 Years Over Horrific Abuse
A Scarborough man branded “very dangerous and depraved” has been locked up for 20 years after grooming and repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl in 2016.
Grotesque Crimes Spanning Months
Matthew Lee Scaife, 36, from Crown Terrace, Scarborough, was found guilty of nine charges, including four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of making indecent images of children. The attacks took place between May and September 2016 around Scarborough and Malton.
Indecent Images Uncovered
Authorities discovered Scaife possessed Category B and C indecent images of children in March 2017. His depraved behaviour extends beyond the physical abuse and shocked investigators.
Sentence and Lifetime Restrictions
Alongside a 20-year prison term, Scaife faces a five-year extended licence upon release, a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and lifetime registration on the sex offenders’ list.
Judge Simon Hickey slammed the villain: “I am certain you knew that she was a vulnerable girl and that is why you targeted her and groomed her. You are, in my judgement, dangerous.”
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Sergeant Lee Allenby from the Online Abuse & Exploitation Team said: “It is very pleasing that we have been able to secure justice for the brave victim who has endured significant abuse and trauma at such a young age. We hope this outcome provides some comfort and strength for her future. Matthew Scaife is clearly very dangerous and depraved, and will be closely monitored for life.”
