Fatal M66 Crash Driver’s Sentence Hiked to 15 Years
Deadly Speeding Spree
Adil Iqbal, 22, filmed himself racing at 123mph on the M66 before a horrific smash that killed Frankie Jules-Hough, 38, who was 17 weeks pregnant. The reckless driver’s BMW collided with Frankie’s Skoda Fabia, parked on the hard shoulder after a tyre puncture.
Tragedy on the Hard Shoulder
Frankie suffered fatal brain injuries, and heartbreakingly, her unborn daughter Neeve died two days later without ever waking. Her family watched the devastating loss unfold.
Frankie’s son Thomas Spencer, 9, and nephew Tobias Welby, 4, were also in the car. Both endured serious brain injuries and spent weeks in intensive care.
Sentence Increased After Appeal
Iqbal originally got 12 years and a 14-year driving ban after admitting causing death by dangerous driving. But the Court of Appeal slammed the sentence as “unduly lenient” and boosted it to 15 years.
History of Danger on the Roads
The Lancashire man had prior convictions, including driving without insurance in 2019, plus a police warning for racing just two months before the crash. Now he faces a long stretch in jail for shattering a family’s life forever.
