Three Men Charged Over Bold Daylight Cash Van Heist Attempt

Three suspects are set to face court over a brazen cash-in-transit robbery attempt at a petrol station in Nottingham.

Violent Attack on Security Van Driver

At around 2.40pm on Friday 4 November, two men lunged at a security van driver as he carried a cash box out of a BP garage on Mansfield Road, Woodthorpe. They tried to snatch the box but failed and fled the scene in a car that had dropped them off.

Fast Police Action Leads to Arrests

The getaway car was quickly identified and stopped by police in Staffordshire. All three men inside were arrested within hours.

Detective Constable Agnes Wakenhut of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was a very serious and brazen attack on a security driver in broad daylight. We respond swiftly to violent crimes like robbery, especially where public safety is at risk. We have worked hard to understand the incident and are pleased to have brought charges. Our investigation continues.”

  • Georghita Ciucur, 34, Cole Hall Lane, birmingham/" title="Birmingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Birmingham
  • Marius Ilie Oana, 27, Shenstone Road, Soho, Birmingham
  • Gymi Adrian Tery Virtan, 24, Shenstone Road, Soho, Birmingham (also charged with driving without insurance)

All three have been charged with attempted robbery. They are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 November 2022.
