19-Year-Old Arrested After Knife Attack on Beckenham Train
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing on a train heading to Beckenham Junction station. Police have also recovered the knife believed to be used in the attack.
Chaos on Board Between Beckenham and Shortlands
The drama unfolded just before 4pm on 27 March when officers were called to Beckenham Junction station after reports of a fight on a train between Beckenham and Shortlands stations.
British Transport Police, alongside London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police, rushed to the scene. A man in his 20s was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition. Specialist officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.
Police Vow Increased Patrols to Reassure Travellers
Superintendent Darren Malpas said: “We understand the public’s concerns following this incident. Our detectives have been working tirelessly on this investigation. We hope today’s arrest brings some reassurance to those travelling on the rail network.”
Malpas added that high-visibility patrols will continue in the area and across the rail network to keep the public safe.
