Nottinghamshire Launches Week of Action to Salute Brave Response Officers

Get ready, Nottinghamshire! From Monday, June 13, 2022, the city and county kick off their second national ‘Response Policing Week of Action’. This week is all about recognising the guts, determination, and tough challenges faced by response officers every single day.

Shining a Light on Frontline Heroes

Response officers are the first on the scene when disaster strikes. They’re the first comforting victims, the first to face danger, and the public’s frontline link with the police. Their quick action is vital in catching criminals and keeping Nottinghamshire safe.

Superintendent Kathryn Craner of Nottinghamshire Police said, “This week is the perfect chance to showcase the professionalism, bravery, and relentlessness of our response officers. They are absolutely crucial in protecting our communities.”

The Tough Side of Policing

But it’s not just about praise. The week also highlights the hard realities these officers face, like arresting violent criminals, safeguarding vulnerable people, and battling illegal drugs and weapons on the streets.

“Response officers set the tone at incident scenes,” Craner added. “How they deal with victims and witnesses shapes investigations later on. This week, we’re showing the public the relentless work our teams do around the clock to fight crime.”

Official Backing from Crime Commissioner

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry praised the force’s swift and effective response to emergencies. “Having witnessed their outstanding work myself, I know the people of Nottinghamshire benefit hugely from such dedicated policing,” she said.

“I’m committed to ensuring this excellent response continues as part of my Make Notts Safe Plan, building trust and confidence across our communities.”
