Five Men Nabbed in Terror Raids Across North London, Manchester and Peterborough
Police have swooped on five men suspected of terror offences in a major operation across north London, Manchester and Peterborough.
Co-ordinated Raids Target Suspected Terror Plotters
On the morning of Monday, 30 December, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, alongside forces from Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) and Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU), arrested five suspects.
- A 21-year-old arrested in Manchester for preparing or instigating an act of terrorism under Section 40(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000.
- A 19-year-old and another 19-year-old both held in Peterborough, with one suspected of encouraging terrorism under Section 1 of the Terrorism Act.
- Two men, aged 23 and 22, arrested in north London on similar terror-related charges.
Operation Ongoing, No Immediate Public Threat
All five remain in police custody as searches continue at multiple addresses. Detectives emphasise this was a planned operation with no immediate danger to the public.
Police Confirm No Link to Other Recent Attacks
Authorities have confirmed these arrests are not connected to the Fishmongers’ Hall attack in London on 29 November, nor any upcoming New Year’s celebrations.
Investigations are ongoing as the anti-terror units dig deeper into the alleged plot.
