Ex-Police Officer and Girlfriend Nabbed in Newquay Over Stalking Probe
A former Devon and Cornwall Police officer and his girlfriend were arrested in Newquay on suspicion of stalking and harassment. The arrests follow a probe led by West Yorkshire Police.
Ex-Copper Harry Tangye and Partner Held
Harry Tangye, 55, and Noora Al Amoora, 38, were detained on Saturday, December 27, 2024. Devon and Cornwall Police made the arrests acting on behalf of West Yorkshire Police.
Serious Allegations Under Investigation
The duo face accusations of stalking and harassing a victim between August 25 and September 7, 2024. Police have kept details under wraps but confirm the investigation is ongoing.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A male and female were arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police on behalf of West Yorkshire Police in connection with an allegation of stalking and harassment reported between August 25 and September 7, 2024. Both have since been released pending further enquiries.”
Bail and Next Steps
Tangye and Al Amoora have been released on bail with conditions to report back to the authorities next month. The specifics of their bail have not been disclosed.
The arrest of a former officer has sparked interest, especially considering Tangye’s long police career.
Legal Fallout Looms
Stalking and harassment carry stiff penalties in the UK – including restraining orders, jail time, and fines. Police have urged anyone with relevant info to come forward as the investigation continues.
West Yorkshire Police Take Lead
The case remains active under West Yorkshire Police’s control, with updates expected soon. Tangye, who served Devon and Cornwall Police for many years, has yet to comment.
