Man Arrested Over False Child Abduction Alarm in Stolen Car

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after falsely claiming a young child was trapped inside a stolen car, sparking a major police hunt in east London.

Police issued urgent appeals this Thursday afternoon for a white Audi A3, last spotted in Newham at 12.20pm. Officers feared a child might be inside the vehicle.

Child Found Safe, Investigation Underway

Scotland Yard later confirmed the youngster was located safe and well at a different location. They thanked the public for their help and confirmed they are now probing the circumstances behind the false report.

“Thank you for your retweets. The white Audi we appealed for has been found and the child located safe and well elsewhere. We’re establishing the circumstances of the report,” said police.
