SIM Swap Scam Hits Dartford Gym: £25,000 Spent on Luxury Watches

A crafty criminal pulled off a daring SIM swap scam at a Dartford health club, stealing credit cards and racking up a £25,000 bill on luxury watches.

Cards Stolen from Locker, SIM Card Removed

On 13 January 2022, a man reported that two credit cards were swiped from his locker at David Lloyd health club in Dartford. The thief also removed the SIM card from his phone to hijack his online accounts.

After contacting the card providers, the victim discovered the cards had been used to buy expensive watches from Bluewater shopping centre.

Police Release Suspect’s Image in Hunt for Watch Thief

PC James Weston of Kent Police is leading the investigation. He said:

“We have carried out a number of enquiries and are now releasing images of a man we believe can help. Although he wears a face covering, his facial hair and distinctive Under Armour clothing might make him recognisable.”
