Two Men Arrested Over Hezbollah Terror Links in London
Coordinated Terror Crackdown by Met Police
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences in a proactive swoop by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command. The arrests tie to suspected connections with Hezbollah, a banned organisation under UK law.
The first suspect, a 39-year-old man, was hauled in on Tuesday, April 1, from a North West London address. He faces serious allegations including:
- Membership of a proscribed organisation
- Preparing acts of terrorism
- Funding terrorism activities
The second suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested the same day at a West London location. He is suspected of being a member of a banned terror group.
Both men were taken to a London police station before being released on bail. They must report back in mid-July as investigations continue.
Extensive Searches Across London and Essex
The Met carried out raids at five addresses:
- Two in North West London
- One in West London
- One in South West London
- One in Essex
All searches are complete, but the probe remains very much open as police dig deeper into Hezbollah’s activities overseas and any UK links.
The Met stresses there is no immediate threat to the public from this investigation.
Met’s Counter-Terror Boss Issues Warning
“Terrorism and terrorists have a global reach and impact, and the activities of terrorist groups overseas can harm communities here in the UK as well as causing devastation abroad.
Our investigation remains ongoing, but I hope these arrests show we will take robust action against anyone suspected of terrorist activity, whether focused here in the UK or elsewhere.”
– Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of Counter Terrorism Command
