Millions Missing Out on Crucial PIP Cash for Bone and Joint Pain
New data reveals over 1.1 million UK adults claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. But countless others might be missing out on this vital financial help.
Musculoskeletal Disorders Are Top PIP Cause
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirms musculoskeletal issues—like arthritis, back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other joint and bone ailments—now lead all reasons for PIP claims.
Who Can Grab This Support?
PIP is open to anyone aged 16 up to State Pension age, whose daily life or mobility takes a hit due to a health condition. Those struggling to work might also get ‘new style’ Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
PIP payouts range from £28.70 to £184.30 per week, paid every four weeks—that’s between £114.80 and £737.20. Expect a 1.7% rise from April 2025.

Experts Urge You to Check Eligibility
“Don’t assume you don’t qualify—PIP isn’t about the diagnosis, it’s about how it affects you day to day,” a welfare adviser said.
If you or a loved one suffer from chronic pain, mobility problems, or fatigue, it could be well worth checking if you’re entitled to this crucial support.
