easyJet Hits Huge Milestone at Gatwick with 250 Million Passengers!
Record-Breaking Journey from Geneva to 102 Destinations
easyJet, London Gatwick’s biggest airline, has just flown its 250 millionth passenger since starting operations at the airport back in December 1999. To celebrate, lucky couple Amy Lovegrove and Richard Hansen from Crawley snagged free return flights to sunny Rhodes.
easyJet kicked off its Gatwick journey nearly 25 years ago with a single flight to Geneva — a route that remains a top pick today. Since then, the airline has grown massively, turning Gatwick into its largest base. They now operate 68 aircraft from the airport, flying to 102 destinations and whisking nearly 20 million passengers through Gatwick every year.
New Routes Take off to Exotic Spots
In the past 12 months, easyJet has added four fresh destinations to its Gatwick lineup:
- Calvi, France
- Skiathos, Greece
- Akureyri, Iceland
- Salerno, Italy
These new options mean holidaymakers can now jet off to some of Europe’s most exciting and lesser-known hotspots with ease.
easyJet and Gatwick: A Perfect Partnership
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “Our growth reflects the demand, whether passengers travel for business or pleasure.”
Mark Johnston, Chief Operating Officer at London Gatwick, added: “easyJet’s impact here is huge. We’re committed to working with them to expand route choices and improve the airport experience for all travellers.”
