Blaze Rips Through Peckham Loft

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to a blaze on Scylla Road in Peckham this evening (Friday 22 November 2019).

The fire gutted the loft space of one house and damaged part of the first floor. Flames also caused minor damage to an adjoining property’s loft and first floor.

Residents Escape, Treated for Smoke Inhalation

A man and a woman managed to flee before crews arrived. Both were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation but did not require hospitalisation.

Fire Under Control Within An Hour

Firefighters were called just before 5pm and had the blaze under control shortly after 6pm. Units from New Cross, Peckham, Old Kent Road, Greenwich, and Brixton fire stations battled the flames.

Cause of Fire Still a Mystery

The fire service is now investigating what sparked the overnight inferno.
