Grass Fire Sparks Chaos Near Maidstone Road Railway
A grass fire blazed along a railway embankment near Maidstone Road in Borough Green today, sparking a rapid emergency response.
Four Fire Engines Rush to Scene
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 12:23pm on Wednesday, 26 March 2025. They wasted no time, dispatching four fire engines to tackle the flames. Firefighters used powerful main jet hoses to get the blaze under control and fully douse it by 2:11pm.
Rail Disruption & Safety Precautions
The fire’s proximity to the railway tracks meant Kent Police, a Network Rail officer, and a Rail Incident Officer quickly joined the scene. Their job? To assess any danger to rail services and infrastructure.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported and rail services escaped major disruption. However, passengers were urged to check for updates throughout the incident.
Cause Still a Mystery
Authorities have yet to determine what sparked the fire. A full investigation is underway.
“Crews worked quickly and effectively to extinguish a grass fire on a railway embankment near Maidstone Road. Partner agencies including Kent Police and Network Rail also attended to support the response,” a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed.
