Heathrow Airport plunged into chaos in the early hours of Thursday, December 5, after a power outage struck around 3 a.m. The blackout lasted for at least three hours, causing a full stop on flights departing the UK’s busiest airport.

The outage also knocked out the crucial fuel pumping systems, leaving planes stuck on the tarmac. Passenger Fabrizio tweeted: “Just about to take off and the captain just announced a power outage affecting apparently the fuelling system at London Heathrow which is making all flights to be stopped until further notice.
He added: “Our plane is still grounded, but the captain appears to be upbeat… Fuel recalculations are underway, and there is a possibility of waiting even longer once in London.”
Baggage Chaos and Passenger Frustration
Other travellers reported severe baggage disruption. One passenger said: “Baggage chaos in Heathrow due to overnight power outage.” The glitches threw a wrench into the day for many hoping for a smooth trip.
