Knife-Wielding Robber Nabbed After Lottery Card Blunder
A man who robbed supermarkets across west and south-west London has been jailed for 14 years after a bungled cash prize claim on stolen lottery scratch-cards exposed him.
Robber’s Greedy Slip-Up Leads to Arrest
Henderson Domingo, 47, from West Ealing, threatened shop staff with a knife during five robberies and two attempted ones. Caught after cops tracked his winnings on stolen National Lottery scratch-cards, he was also found with a bladed article at the time of arrest.
Domingo was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on July 8 after being convicted on all nine counts. Police recovered nearly £15,000 in cash during the arrest.
How the Flying Squad Cracked the Case
- Stolen scratch-cards taken from a supermarket on Upper Richmond Road on January 24, 2021, triggered a police investigation.
- Domingo tried to claim £255 in winnings from 27 stolen cards across four shops in Ealing over two days.
- Detectives closely monitored suspicious claims and scanned CCTV footage to zero in on Domingo.
- He was caught by the Met’s Flying Squad near a Northfield Avenue supermarket on February 25, 2021, just as he was ready to strike again.
Met Flying Squad Vows to Stamp Out Violence
“Mr Domingo will have a significant period of time in prison to reflect on the distress he has caused staff at the supermarkets he targeted, as well as on his own foolishness and greed,” said Detective Constable Pippa Bregazzi.
Flying Squad officers say they remain “determined, resourceful, and skilled” in their mission to catch violent robbers terrorising London’s shops.
