Hampshire Police have dropped all charges against two women arrested over the tragic death of Baby Hope, the newborn found wrapped in a blanket on Portsmouth’s Old Commercial Road back in January 2020.
Two Women Released, Third Remains in Hot Water
The women, aged 22 and 39, were arrested on May 12, 2020, alongside a third woman, 21, all from Portsmouth. All three faced suspicion of conspiracy to murder following the discovery of Baby Hope’s body on January 25. Now, police confirm the 22- and 39-year-olds face no further action, but the investigation continues against the 21-year-old.
Police Keep Tight-Lipped as Inquiry Moves Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Baker addressed the community’s concerns:
“We know this case has been upsetting for many in the community. Our officers are trained to handle sensitive and complex investigations like this to ensure the right outcome for everyone involved.”
