Explosion and Fire Rock Southall Terrace House

Six fire engines and 40 firefighters rushed to North Road, Southall, after reports of a fire and explosion just after 10am on Tuesday.

Urgent Search for Missing Persons

The London Fire Brigade’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team joined the response, tackling serious structural damage to an end-of-terrace house. They’re also investigating reports of one or more people unaccounted for at the scene.

Road Closures Cause Traffic Chaos

Following the explosion, North Road and junctions with High Street, Kingsley Avenue, and Shrubbery Road were shut down. Station Commander Matt Williams warned motorists to steer clear of the area as firefighters work using an aerial ladder to tackle the blaze on the first floor.

“Crews are tackling a fire on the first floor using an aerial ladder,” said Commander Williams. “There are local road closures in place, so we advise motorists to avoid the area where possible.”

One man has been treated by paramedics at the scene. Fire crews from Southall, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hayes, Northolt, and Heston remain battling the blaze. The London Ambulance Service and HART team are also involved.

The cause of the explosion and fire remains unknown. Rescue teams expect to be on site for hours. With several schools and colleges nearby, expect ongoing traffic disruptions into the afternoon.
