Police dog stabbed during incident in uk/where/hanley/">Hanley

A police dog is being treated for a stab wound after being attacked in Hanley this afternoon (1 July). Officers were called to a report of a man armed with a knife on Town Road, Hanley at around 2.15pm. The dog received a stab wound to the head as officers tried to detain the suspect. A police officer was also injured during the incident. The detained man is believed to have suffered a medical emergency and has been taken to hospital for treatment. Chief Inspector Donna Harvey from Staffordshire Police said: “Police dogs are our family, not property, and our thoughts are with the dog and his handler at this time. An investigation has commenced and officers are appealing for witnesses to ring 101 quoting incident 469 of 1 July. PD Audi is a member of the Staffordshire Police family, Officers will be monitoring his progress closely
