Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire was partially evacuated this afternoon following reports of a fire within the theme park.

Visitors said the incident centred on the Forbidden Valley area, with announcements instructing guests to leave. Images and videos posted online showed crowds being ushered out and long queues forming at exit points.

One attendee wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Never had a whole area of Alton Towers evacuated before! I’m confused as hell. I hope nothing too serious has happened.”

Others reported traffic disruption and confusion as some car park entrances were closed. One visitor, who had walked 25 minutes with elderly relatives toward Forbidden Valley, claimed there was “no communication with customers” and “nobody blocking off routes.”

The theme park has not yet issued a public statement and the cause of the evacuation has not been confirmed.

Emergency services have not reported any injuries, and the extent of the incident remains unclear.

Alton Towers Resort is one of the UK’s most popular attractions, drawing millions of visitors annually.
