Just after 4 a.m. on Friday, police were called to an address on Fountayne Road in Hackney by Jewish volunteer medical service Hatzola and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) (January 27). In a fast-response car, the LAS dispatched an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer, and a medic.
“Unfortunately, a person was pronounced dead at the scene,” a LAS spokesperson said.
A 49-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of child neglect, but both have since been released on bail while police conduct additional investigations.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “The arrests occurred on the Sabbath, the orthodox Jewish community was concerned. The arrests were necessary due to the gravity of the tragic incident and the requirements of the investigation.”
