Three Treated by Paramedics After Bedroom Fire in Ashford Caused by Overheated Charger

ASHFORD, KENT — Three people have been treated by paramedics following a bedroom fire in Headcorn Road, Ashford, believed to have been caused by an overheated charger.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene after reports of a blaze in a bedroom. Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) paramedics treated three people at the scene. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental, linked to a charger overheating.

Following the incident, Kent Fire and Rescue Service has urged residents to follow safety guidelines when charging devices:

  • Always use the original charger supplied with the device or tool

  • Never leave charging items unattended or overnight

  • Charge in a well-ventilated area and keep devices uncovered to prevent overheating

  • Disconnect devices from chargers as soon as charging is complete

The service stressed that taking these precautions can help prevent similar incidents and reduce the risk of fire in the home.
