‘Do Not Eat’ Warning Issued as Asda Recalls Popular Pork Product Over Allergen Risk – UKNIP

Asda has urgently recalled a popular ready-to-cook pork product, warning customers not to eat it due to serious undeclared allergen risks.

The supermarket giant has pulled its Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices from shelves after discovering that milk and sulphites—both potential allergens—were not declared on the product’s packaging.

Some packs were mispacked with Tomato & Mozzarella Pork Meatballs, triggering a “do not eat” warning from both Asda and the uk/news/uk/Food" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Food" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="191898">Food Standards Agency (FSA).

Product Details

  • Product: Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices
  • Use by date: 25 April 2025
  • Barcode: 5063089827178

The FSA confirmed the risk is significant for people with allergies or intolerances to milk and sulphur dioxide, stating:

“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not eat it. Return it to the store for a full refund.”

Customers do not need a receipt to return the item and claim a refund.

Asda Apologises to Customers

In a statement, Asda said:

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.”

The company also confirmed that no other date codes or products are affected by the recall.

Health Risks of Undeclared Allergens

Milk and sulphites are common food allergens. Exposure can cause severe reactions in sensitive individuals, including difficulty breathing, rashes, or even anaphylaxis.

Experts warn that even trace amounts of undeclared allergens in food can pose serious health threats, especially to those with diagnosed conditions.

Other Recent Recalls

This follows a similar warning issued by Aldi earlier this month, after one of its own-label products was found to contain undeclared milk, again prompting a “do not eat” notice.
