Man Charged Following Attack on Elderly Man in Handsworth

A man has been charged after an 82-year-old was left seriously injured in an attack on Soho Road, Handsworth earlier this week.

Muntahar Ahmed, 43, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the assault, which took place at approximately 3:30pm on Tuesday, 14 January 2025. He has now been charged with wounding and has been remanded in custody. Ahmed is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, 18 January.

The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
