A man has been convicted of murder after stabbing his neighbour in england/south-west-Londonlondon/”>South Westsouth west London. Salah Ahmed, 22, was arrested just 10 minutes after police arrived on the scene in Balham.
Quick Police Action Seals Fate
Ahmed, also known as Salah Al-Mahmoodi, was found guilty at scotland/Kingstonkingston-scotland-england/”>scotland/”>kingston/”>Kingston Crown Court following a three-week trial. The victim, 18-year-old Issa Ali Musa Abdularaman-Baracat, was fatally stabbed following a dispute over a phone.
“This is a tragic, senseless murder and our thoughts are with Issa’s loved ones. We hope that they feel some justice that Ahmed has been found guilty,” said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
Officers arrived on Laitwood Road shortly after a 6:01am call reporting the stabbing on 28 October. Ahmed was swiftly arrested at the scene. A kitchen knife, confirmed as the murder weapon, was found minutes later near a flat.
Neighbours Turned Deadly Rivals
Ahmed and Issa were not just neighbours but friends. CCTV showed Issa leaving Ahmed’s room just after 2am on the morning of the attack. Hours later, Ahmed armed himself with the knife and confronted Issa, sparking a fatal clash that spilled onto The Streetthe street.
After stabbing Issa, Ahmed fled to dispose of the weapon. Shockingly, he then returned and filmed the dying victim before police arrived and arrested him.
Justice Served Amid Stunning Lies
Despite overwhelming evidence, Ahmed continually lied about his age and denied the murder. Detectives pieced together the brutal sequence with help from partner agencies.
“Ahmed took a knife into public with the clear intent to use it, showing no regard for his friend or anyone else. Violence and knife crime will never be tolerated, and we are committed to making London a safer city,” added DCI Howie.
Ahmed was charged with murder on 29 October and will be sentenced on 25 September. The Met said this conviction removes another violent criminal from the streets of London.
