Four Charged Following Medway Robbery and High-Speed Pursuit

 

A vehicle pursuit into London has resulted in four men being charged in connection with a robbery in Medway.

Kent Police were called at approximately 9:00 PM on Thursday, 2 January 2024, following reports that intruders were attempting to force entry into a home on Balmoral Road, Gillingham. Upon arrival, officers found two occupants of the residence had suffered head injuries. Paramedics treated the victims at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital for further medical attention.

Police Pursuit and Arrests

Swift police investigations led to a patrol attempting to stop a Ford Focus traveling along the A20 towards Lewisham. It is alleged that the vehicle failed to stop and continued into London before colliding with a barrier. The occupants then fled on foot.

With assistance from a police helicopter and Metropolitan Police patrols, four suspects were arrested and taken into custody.

Charges and Court Proceedings

The following individuals have been charged:

  • Mustafa Rahim, 28, of Dashwood Estate, Sydenhamcharged with robbery and dangerous driving
  • Tajsharn Cummings, 25, of no fixed address – charged with robbery
  • John Smith, 24, of Pin Mill, Basildon, Essexcharged with robbery
  • Deniqko Benton, 19, of Oakfield Road, East Hamcharged with robbery and possession of cannabis

All four men appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 4 January 2024 and were remanded to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 3 February 2024.
