Wiltshire Police rubbish Terror threat as HQ Declared Safe Following Evacuation

Wiltshire Police’s Devizes Headquarters has been declared safe after a reported incident led to the precautionary evacuation of the premises earlier this evening.

The reported incident, which occurred shortly before 6 pm, prompted a thorough search of the building by responding officers. By 9 pm, the estate was declared safe, with no risk posed to the public or staff.

Superintendent Doug Downing addressed concerns, stating, “Contrary to some inaccurate media speculation, there is categorically no link to terrorism.” He further assured the public that there was no danger at any point, adding, “There were no reported injuries and no arrests have been made.”

Superintendent Downing thanked the public for their patience and understanding during the incident, which briefly inconvenienced those in the area as the police ensured the safety of all involved.

The situation is now resolved, and regular activities at the headquarters will resume.
