Investigation Launched Following Triple Stabbing in Dagenham

An investigation is underway after a woman and two children were stabbed in a shocking attack on First Avenue, Dagenham, on Friday evening, 25 October.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 5:35 following reports of multiple injuries. Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance to provide emergency assistance.

The victims, a woman believed to be in her 30s, and two children—an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy—were found suffering from stab wounds. All three were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the eight-year-old girl’s injuries are not life-threatening. However, updates on the condition of the woman and the two-year-old boy are still awaited.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He was initially taken to the hospital after becoming unwell but has since been discharged and is now in police custody.

 


Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, who oversees policing in Barking and Dagenham, described the incident as “a truly shocking attack.” He expressed gratitude to the local residents for their support and patience during the police response.

“At this early stage, we believe those involved were known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident,” said Detective Superintendent Basford. “A crime scene will remain in place for some time while our officers carry out vital work, and you will see an increased policing presence in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns or information that could assist police, then please speak to an officer or call police on 101.”

The Metropolitan Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward by calling 101 or contacting @MetCC on ‘X’ using CAD5931/25Oct as a reference. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
