Police have launched an urgent appeal for help in locating a missing 54-year-old man named Stephen after his car was found abandoned by a field on the Ridgeway, just over the Berkshire border near Southfield, Aldworth.
Stephen’s blue Mazda 3 was discovered near the popular walking route, prompting concerns for his welfare. He has not been seen since, and Thames Valley Police say they are “extremely concerned” for his safety.
Stephen is described as being 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build, and may be wearing either blue or black jeans, an open-necked shirt, a walking coat, and boots. He is known to carry a backpack, which he may have with him.
Search Underway Along the Ridgeway
Search efforts are being stepped up, with police combing the area around the Ridgeway footpath. Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue (BLSAR) are assisting in the operation.
Officers have reassured the public not to be alarmed if they notice increased police presence or search activity in the area over the coming days.
A police spokesperson said:
“We are doing everything we can to locate Stephen and ensure he is safe. If you have seen anyone matching his description or witnessed anything unusual in the area recently, please get in touch. Even the smallest detail could help.”
