Chaos at Grand Blanc Church

A terrifying attack unfolded at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, when Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40-year-old Iraqi war veteran, ploughed a truck loaded with bombs into the building’s front door.

Hundreds of worshippers were inside preparing to take the sacrament when Sanford allegedly jumped out and started shooting. The suspect is accused of setting the packed Churchchurch on fire before being killed in a police shootout.

Bombs, Fire and Fear

Flames and thick smoke were visible for miles as emergency crews rushed to the scene. Authorities fear the death toll may Riserise as they survey the burnt-out ruins.

 

 

Police discovered Sanford’s truck was packed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), raising the Stakesstakes on the horrific attack.

One churchgoer said: “We were just about to take the sacrament when a massive bang shook the building. At first, we thought it was an accident, but then we saw the American flags on the truck and realised it was deliberate.”

Background of the Suspect

Sanford is believed to have served in Iraq from 2004 to 2008, according to a post on his mother’s social media. His own accounts depict him as a family man with a wife and a young son.

National Response and Reactions

Former US President Donald Trump expressed his condolences and called for an end to what he termed an “epidemic of violence”. He said:

“PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!”

Michigan Republican Representative John James added:

“On this Sunday, a day meant for worship and peace, such violence is a grave evil. Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire community.”
