Police have issued an update following a serious assault at a petrol station in Crystal Palace which left a man in his 50s with a stab wound to the chest.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the Shell petrol station on Crystal Palace Parade shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, 19 March, after reports of a stabbing.
Emergency services, including ambulance crews and London’s Air Ambulance, responded swiftly to the scene. The victim, a man in his 50s, was treated on-site before being taken to a major trauma centre in London.
Police have confirmed that the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No further updates on his condition have been released.
A crime scene was established at the petrol station but has since been lifted today (20 March) as investigations continue.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“Police were called at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 19 March to Crystal Palace Parade, SE19 following a serious assault.
A man in his 50s was taken to hospital after sustaining a stab wound to his chest. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Officers remain in the area and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
The London Ambulance Service also issued a statement confirming the emergency response. A spokesperson said:
“We were called today (Wednesday 19) at 2.47pm to reports of a stabbing in Crystal Palace Parade, SE19.
We sent resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and London’s Air Ambulance.
We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”
Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and no arrests have been made so far.
