Fire crews called to Chimney blaze in Brighstone
Three fire appliances have been called to a tackle a Chimney fire in the village of Brightstone on the Isle of Wight this evening. Two fire crews from Newport a third from Freshwster were mobilsed just after 6pm on Tuesday evening to a property in Chilton Lane in village. Crews remain at the property tackling a fire that has broken out in the flue and spread into the wall cavity. A number of crew were committed in breathing appurtus into the property after the home owner was alerted to a working smoke alarm fitted in the property. Due to the actions of crews first on scene they managed to stop. The spread of the fire. Firefighters are using chimney gear, a hose reel and hand tools to tackle the blaze a thermal imaging camera is also being used to assist with firefighting A spokesman for the Hampshire fire and rescue service said crews were mobilsed to a the Chimney fire at 6.18pm. We have sent three appliances two from Newport and a further appliance has been sent from Freshwater. We remain at the property carrying out fire fighting activities. More to follow
