On Boxing Day, two individuals armed with large knives and riding electric bikes attempted to rob pedestrians at knifepoint in a high street. Their crime spree was interrupted by the courageous actions of bystanders who tackled and detained one of the suspects before police arrived.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded in broad daylight, causing panic among those in the vicinity. Despite the gravity of the situation, two brave individuals intervened, restraining one of the suspects while the other suspect circled the scene on his bike, knife in hand. Realising his attempts to intimidate were futile, the second individual fled the area.
Residents expressed frustration over the reported 10-minute delay in police response, but praised the actions of the heroic citizens who risked their safety to protect others.
The detained suspect was handed over to Police upon their arrival. Police have launched an investigation to apprehend the second individual who fled the scene. Authorities are also urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.
