The President will be honoured with a flypast by the Red Arrows and US and UK F-35 military jets on the East Lawn at Windsor Castle, along with a special Beating Retreat military ceremony—believed to be a first for a state visit.
On the morning of September 17, the Prince and Princess of Wales will meet Mr and Mrs Trump in the grounds of Windsor estate and escort them to meet the King and Queen for an open-air greeting. The group will then partake in a carriage procession through the estate, lined by armed forces and accompanied by three military bands from the Royal Marines, the Army, and the RAF.
A ceremonial welcome featuring a guard of honour will take place in the castle’s quadrangle, followed by lunch with the royal family and a visit to a Royal Collection exhibition within the castle.
On Wednesday afternoon, the President and First Lady will privately visit St George’s Chapel to lay a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II and enjoy a short tour, concluding with a musical performance from the chapel choir.
Final Day Activities
On Thursday morning, the Trumps will bid farewell to the King and Queen at Windsor Castle. President Trump will then head to Chequers, the Prime Minister’s official country residence in Buckinghamshire, where he will be greeted by Sir Keir and Lady Starmer, alongside a Guard of Honour from RAF Halton and bagpipers.
At Chequers, Mr Trump will view the Sir Winston Churchill archives, partake in a bilateral meeting, join a business reception with the Chancellor, and hold a press conference. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump will engage in activities with the Queen and Princess of Wales at Windsor, including a tour of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and a visit to Frogmore Gardens to meet Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and members of the Scouts’ Squirrels programme.
