The Met Office is forecasting temperatures close to 30°C through midweek, with limited overnight relief, prompting warnings about the risk to vulnerable residents, including older adults, young children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.

Public Health Warning
The UKHSA is urging Londoners to take action to stay cool and hydrated, especially during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm).
“Extended periods of high temperatures and warm nights pose serious health risks, particularly for those in poorly ventilated housing or with underlying conditions,” said a UKHSA spokesperson.
Advice includes:
- Closing curtains during the day in sun-facing rooms.
- Using fans and drinking water regularly.
- Avoiding physical exertion outdoors at peak heat times.
- Checking in on elderly neighbours or family.

Care homes, community health providers, and outreach teams have also been advised to implement heatwave contingency plans, ensuring vulnerable individuals are safeguarded.
The yellow alert is in place until at least Thursday, but may be escalated if forecasts indicate increasing severity.
