Police have charged a woman and arrested a man following a series of incidents linked to ongoing protests at the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf.
The Met Police said Channay Augustus, 22, of Tower Hamlets, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault, and possession of cannabis. She is an occupant of the flat that was entered during one of the incidents.
The affray and common assault charges relate to an altercation at the Britannia Hotel on Wednesday evening, in which the alleged victim was a security guard, police said.

Viral Footage Sparks Arrest
Earlier the same day, footage circulating on social media appeared to show a man entering a residential flat after being told to “go back to the hotel.” He was later detained by members of the public nearby.

In the early hours of Friday morning, officers arrested the man — described as a suspected migrant in his early 20s — in the Hackney area on suspicion of common assault.
Police confirmed:
“We can confirm that this is the man who allegedly entered the flat.”
He remains in custody.
Augustus is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
The Britannia Hotel, which has been used to accommodate migrants, has been the scene of frequent protests in recent weeks, with tensions between demonstrators, residents, and hotel staff.
