Jaw-dropping footage shows two hammer-wielding robbers storm a family-run jewellery shop in broad daylight, terrifying onlookers in Richmond, west London.
Thugs Smash Display Window in Broad Daylight
On a busy Saturday morning, two men dressed head to toe in black smashed the window of Gregory & Co. with a huge hammer. When the glass wouldn’t break, one thug tried ripping it out by hand before they grabbed the jewellery on display and stuffed the loot into a blue carrier bag.

Employees inside desperately tried to stop the thieves by removing valuables from the display. One brave staffer even hurled a box at the pair, but the masked men fled down the street, leaving shocked bystanders frozen in fear.
Witnesses Recall the Shocking Attack
“The two guys appeared out of nowhere carrying a large sledgehammer and a bag. They then started smashing the jewellers window up,” said an employee of a nearby shop who saw the whole thing.
London’s Rising Crime Wave Hits Retailers Hard
This isn’t the first brazen robbery to hit London recently. Last month, a shopkeeper in Wembley fought off an attacker threatening to set his shop on fire. Another used a milk crate to fend off knife-wielding robbers. Meanwhile, thieves have stolen thousands of pounds worth of goods in broad daylight all over the capital.
Authorities are battling a nationwide theft epidemic that is forcing retailers to spend big on security and new tech to try to keep their businesses safe.
