A notorious flasher, Bobby Garande, 30, of Linnet Close in Thamesmead, has resurfaced in south London, adding another indecent exposure incident to his extensive criminal record, this time in Lewisham.
Garande, described by police as a “disturbing individual,” has amassed a staggering 10 convictions for indecent exposure across south London, with most incidents occurring on buses and trains. His repeated offences have resulted in several prison sentences and a court order specifically prohibiting him from sexually touching himself, exposing his genitals, or making persistent eye contact with women while on public transport.
In September 2020, Garande was jailed for 16 weeks after exposing himself to a woman on the number 50 bus from Croydon to Norbury, in the presence of two children. Just over a year later, in November 2021, he was caught fondling himself on a train to Bromley South station, where an elderly woman witnessed his lewd behaviour. Despite her efforts to capture evidence, Garande persisted, ultimately leading to his arrest as he attempted to flee the scene.
While serving a 27-month sentence for this offence, Garande faced further prosecution for an incident in October 2021, during which he spent 15 minutes engaging in inappropriate behaviour towards a woman on a train from Blackfriars to Elephant and Castle. This added another 26 weeks to his prison term.
Despite his previous promises to leave such behaviour behind, Garande’s latest offence occurred on March 22 this year, once again demonstrating his blatant disregard for the law and public decency, this time in Lewisham.
Appearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday from HMP Wandsworth, Garande pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and two counts of breaching his criminal behaviour order. However, due to barristers’ availability, the sentencing hearing was adjourned to next week.
Garande’s persistent and brazen actions have terrorized women on public transport across the city, leaving a lasting impact on his victims and underscoring the need for decisive legal action to protect public safety.
