A number of roads in Belvedere have been closed as fire crews tackle a blaze at a factory on Church Manorway. The fire broke out just before 9:50 am today (September 16) near Mulberry Way, prompting the evacuation of over 100 factory staff before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters from Erith, Plumstead, Greenwich, and other nearby fire stations are working to contain the fire, which ignited a conveyor belt at the commercial property. A cordon remains in place as crews make the scene safe.
Road closures are currently affecting the following locations:
- Mulberry Way: Closed in both directions at Church Manorway.
- Lower Road: Closed both ways between Battle Road and A2016 Bronze Age Way.
- Bronze Age Way: Closed both ways from B253 Picardy Manorway to A206 Queens Road (Erith Roundabout).
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters have been mobilised to a fire at a commercial property on Church Manorway in Erith. A conveyor belt was alight, and crews are working to support emergency services and make the scene safe.”
The London Ambulance Service also responded, sending its Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer. A spokesperson said, “Our crews attended and assisted emergency services at the scene. Some crews have been stood down, while others remain on-site.”
There are no reports of injuries, and the situation is ongoing as authorities work to ensure the area is secure.
