Gerald Ellis, 64, of Primrose in Filey, has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison for a series of sexual assaults committed against three women over a six-year period. The sentencing took place at Hull Crown Court after Ellis pleaded guilty to six counts of non-recent sexual assault and two counts of non-recent assault by penetration.
The offences occurred between January 2014 and March 2020. In addition to his prison sentence, Ellis has been handed a 12-year sexual harm prevention order and a 15-year restraining order. He will also be placed on the sex offender register for life.
Detective Constable Gayle Allwood from the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, who led the investigation, commended the victims for their courage in coming forward. Ellis is a sexual deviant who preyed on young women all for his own sex-obsessed absurdities,” DC Allwood said. She emphasized the victims’ bravery as being crucial in bringing Ellis to justice.
The police had reiterated their commitment to treating all reports of sexual offences seriously, regardless of when they occurred. They encouraged any victims of sexual crimes to come forward, assuring them that support is available through various independent and criminal support networks.
In conjunction with this case, the police have launched a campaign featuring Jamie, a sexual abuse survivor who has waived her right to anonymity, to encourage other victims to speak out and seek help.
