Appeal for Witnesses Following Serious Assault in Gillingham
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a serious assault took place at a public house in Gillingham. The incident occurred at the Fleur de Lis on Gillingham Road at around 7.45pm on Monday, 16 September 2024.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was reportedly involved in an altercation inside the bar area when another individual allegedly struck him on the head with a sock containing pool table balls. The victim later required hospital treatment for swelling and cuts to his head.
Patrol officers attended the scene, and a suspect was arrested. Neil Packer, 59, of Wood Street, Gillingham, was charged with wounding with intent, affray, possession of cocaine, and failing to provide a sample for a drug test. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was conditionally bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, 14 October.
Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the events leading up to it and has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
