Two men have been convicted of the murder of 33-year-old Andrew Main in Swansea city centre last year.

Joseph Dix, 26, from Frome, Somerset, and Macauley Ruddock, 28, from Bath, Somerset, were found guilty after a trial. Both had pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

Incident Overview

Andrew Main was fatally attacked in Swansea city centre in what prosecutors described as a “violent and senseless act.” Emergency services were called to the scene, but Main was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

The court heard that Dix and Ruddock were involved in an altercation with the victim, which escalated into a fatal assault.

Legal Proceedings

The jury returned their unanimous verdicts on Monday after deliberating for several days. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence linking both defendants to the scene and detailed the series of events leading to the attack.

Sentencing

Dix and Ruddock will be sentenced at a later date, with both facing life imprisonment.

Family Statement

Andrew Main’s family expressed their heartbreak in a statement released after the verdict:

“Andrew was a kind and loving son, brother, and friend. His life was cruelly cut short, and we will never fully recover from the loss. We are grateful to the police and legal team for their hard work in securing justice for Andrew.

Police Response

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Evans, who led the investigation, said:

“This was a tragic and needless loss of life. The conviction of these two individuals is a testament to the hard work of the investigative team and the courage of those who came forward to provide evidence. Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family during this difficult time.”

The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about violent crime in urban centres and the need for community vigilance. Swansea residents are urged to report any concerns to South Wales Police.

Further updates will be provided following sentencing.
