A man has been charged with murder and robbery following the death of an 87-year-old man in Manor House, north London.
Peter Augustine, 58, of Green Lanes, Hornsey, was formally charged on Friday, 9 May, with the murder and robbery of the elderly victim, who died two days after a reported violent incident.
The charges relate to an incident that occurred at around 5.53pm on Tuesday, 6 May, when Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called to Goodchild Road, Manor House, after reports of a robbery.
The 87-year-old victim was found injured and taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical teams, he sadly passed away on Thursday, 8 May. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Augustine was arrested in Green Lanes on Thursday evening and remains in custody. He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 10 May.
The police investigation, codenamed Operation Cedarbirch, is ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
