The A27 has been closed in both directions between the A24 and A280 near Worthing due to a serious road traffic collision. Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit is leading the emergency response, with support from South East Coast Ambulance Service, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, who are all at the scene.

Motorists are being advised to expect significant delays as emergency services manage the incident. Authorities are urging drivers to follow diversion routes and avoid the area if possible.

Diversion Routes:

Westbound Traffic:

  • Follow the ‘Hollow Triangle’ diversion symbol.
  • At the Offington Roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the A24 northbound.
  • At the Findon Roundabout, take the first exit onto the A280.
  • Follow the A280 to the Clapham Interchange.
  • At the first roundabout, take the second exit to cross over the A27, and at the second roundabout, take the third exit to re-join the A27.

Eastbound Traffic:

  • Follow the ‘Hollow Diamond’ diversion symbol.
  • Exit at the Clapham Interchange and take the second exit from the roundabout onto the A280.
  • Follow the A280 to the Findon Roundabout with the A24.
  • Take the third exit onto the A24 southbound.
  • Continue to the Offington Roundabout and take the first exit to re-join the A27 eastbound.
