West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a 16-year-old boy was shot and stabbed in a violent attack in Leeds. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, October 13, on Cambrian Terrace, Holbeck.
Officers were called to the scene at 12:08 am, where the victim was found with serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment for machete wounds to his leg and arm, as well as injuries to his left arm from a shotgun discharge. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening, and he is continuing to recover in hospital.
The attack is being treated as attempted murder, and detectives from the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) have launched an investigation. The victim is believed to have been attacked by a group of males near where he was found.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “The criminal use of firearms on our streets is something we take extremely seriously. Although the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, this attack could have easily had fatal consequences, and we are treating it as attempted murder.
He added: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of the incident, particularly anyone with dashcam or doorbell camera footage, or any information that could assist the investigation.
DCI Entwistle also acknowledged the concern this attack will cause in the local community. We will be maintaining an increased police presence in the area to reassure residents,” he said.
