Violence Sparks Police Probe

Sussex Police launched an investigation after a person was reportedly assaulted and threatened during the disturbance. Authorities say tensions have been mounting over Home Office plans to temporarily accommodate 540 male asylum seekers at the military base.

Police Clampdown with Dispersal Order

To restore order, cops slapped a dispersal order on the roads surrounding the barracks. This gives them the power to clear the area and expires at 9.15pm GMT on Wednesday.

“We will take robust action against anyone involved in criminality and anti-social behaviour,” a police spokesperson warned.

Local opposition has been brewing for weeks, sparking public and political backlash as Crowborough braces for the controversial housing plan.
